چکیده

Abstract: Aim: This study aimed to establish the dose of streptozotocin required induce Type -1 diabetes in Wistar rats. Background: Streptozotocin is currently employed worldwide insulin-dependent mellitus also known as 1 experimental animals. Though many reports on use induction are reported literature, they were not reproducible. Moreover, there was no mention mortality associated with same well conditions followed during study. Materials and Methods: In present study, dose, route, solvent used for investigated. Various doses 55, 50, 40, 35mg/kg dissolved either freshly prepared cold 10mM sodium citrate buffer (pH 4.5) or normal saline solution administered intraperitoneally intravenously. For intraperitoneal administration, dose-volume 10mL/kg whereas intravenous administration 2mL/Kg. Different routes ascertain cause which an autopsy performed. Besides rate determined. Results Discussion: The findings revealed that a 35-40mg/kg showed less percentage successful diabetes. Conclusion: Mortality (10-20%) observed at streptozotocin. Therefore, (35-40mg/kg) confirmed be safe effective paper highlights subtle intricacies rats using Keywords: Male rats, Streptozotocin, Type-1 diabetes, 5% dextrose, Mortality, Normal solution.

Streptozotocin-induced experimental diabetes in male Wistar rats.

The aim of the present work was to test the sensitivity of young male Wistar rats, Dobrá Voda (Dv:WI) to the diabetogenic effect of streptozotocin (STZ) with regard to their health condition and mortality rates. Eight-week-old rats, weighing from 200 to 230 g, were randomised into five groups of eight animals. Streptozotocin was administered by i.v. injection in doses of 40, 50, 60 and 70 mg/kg...

Sesame effects on testicular damage in streptozotocin-induced diabetes rats

Objective(s): Reproductive dysfunction is a consequence of diabetes. Diabetes is associated with changes in testicular tissue. Sesame oil contains large amounts of polyunsaturated fatty acids and lignin with antioxidant activity, vitamin E, and monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA). The present study investigated the effects of sesame on testis histology and male reproductive parameters in streptoz...

Streptozotocin diabetes-induced changes in aorta, peripheral nerves and stomach of Wistar rats.

In rats with diabetes induced by streptozotocin (STZ), we studied the reactivity of the aorta in response to vasoconstrictor and vasorelaxant agents, changes in conduction velocity in the sciatic nerve, and glutathion (GSH) content in the gastric mucosa as well as the occurrence of spontaneous gastric lesions. STZ-induced diabetes was found to be accompanied by endothelial injury, exhibited by ...

Protective effect of curcumin in fructose-induced metabolic syndrome and in streptozotocin-induced diabetes in rats

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of pre-treatment with curcumin on metabolic changes induced by two different pathophysiological mechanisms in rats (fructose diet and streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetes mellitus). Materials and Methods: Five groups with 10 rats per group were investigated: control group (healthy rats), fructose diet groups without any pre-treatme...
